World Read Aloud Day

Wednesday March 6 is World Read Aloud day. It's a day to celebrate the importance of reading and sharing stories.

Room 15 decided to make a movie of a children's book for children in junior classes to enjoy.

The book is called the Big Block of Chocolate which is a book that our teacher remembers reading to her little brother when they were children.

First the class broke into pairs. Each pair had to create a scene for each page of the book and here is our final product.

What was your favourite scene?

What could we do to make our video better next time?

Do you think the class should eat the big block of chocolate?

  1. Great idea to create a video to celebrate Global Read Aloud Day. Reading aloud is wonderful fun and your video helps show this.

My favourite scene is the first scene where the girl pops up from below the camera to say her lines. I think the class should eat the chocolate and I would've liked to seen it happen in the video!

  4. My favourite bit was the magpie in the tree. If you do decide to eat the chocolate I think you should share it with your principal. This is a VERY cool video.

  5. Hi! Room 15,
We loved reading your story. Our teacher, Anna, read the story to us before we watched your movie.
Noah liked the chocolate melting from the sun.
Valeti wanted to eat the chocolate.
Shanil liked the magpie in the tree.
All of Room 4 liked it when you read with expression - some children even laughed.
Thanks for sharing a great book with us.

My favourite scene was Grace and Rosalie's scene. We could make the video better next time if we could make it more silly. And we should eat the block of chocolate!

  15. Hi Room 15,

That is a really cool video. Our School also participated in World Read Aloud Day. We had to dress up as our favourite book character. I dressed up as Wally from Where's Wally. Are you going to eat the chocolate?
