Week 5 Learning Reflections

Hi Room 15

What another busy week here at Tawa Intermediate. How did it go for you? This week we've been reading about the Treaty of Waitangi.

One of our writing groups drafted and shot a movie trailer while most of our groups have been working on getting our paragraphs written about us. In Maths we've been working on tessellations and we've also been deciding on our metaphor for our learning statement.

For me the Wins of the Week have been the students who are really stepping up in class to take leadership roles without being asked. I've also been impressed with how many of you are using and finding wacky words to use.

I think our First Attempt In Learning would have to be Nucombe as we lost all our three games. We improved a lot in our last game when we used strategies like pairing stronger players with players who aren't so confident. What do you think we can learn from our losses for the next time we play inter-class sport?

How has your week been?
  • What have been some positives about your learning? Did you have any wins?
  • Have you had any challenges with your learning this week? Any First Attempts In Learning?
  • What about something unexpected?
Leave a comment remembering to use our quality commenting check list.

No F.A.I.Ls this week? Perhaps we need to look at doing something a bit more challenging next week. What do you think?

The learning win, taking responsibility during class, was also part of your F.A.I.L as I was impressed that you wanted to help even though it was a bit tough for you to reach. I wonder how your tessellations and writing went this week. Can you tell me more?

The positives of my week is I finally learned how to play Taku Reo Rangatira on guitar.

Also part of the schools Kapahaka people singing the song Taku Reo Rangtira in front of a crowd with me and Ms. Tito playing guitar was a blast.

I'm glad to see you finished off the tessellation in time for Friday Fun. I think you are right that planning is the key. I think you guys had some good ideas but you needed to persevere and look for help when you get stuck. Perhaps that a First Attempt In Learning?

  7. Hello Room 15,

The highlights for me this week, was being able to finish all my learning goals before friday fun.

The obstacle that challenged me this week, was trying to accomplish my enlargement.

The most unexpected thing this week was doing good on finishing my art homework.

    Yours sincerely Nikki

I'm glad to hear you've made some improvement on your maths. Basic Facts are like scales or barre work in Ballet. You have to practice, practice, practice. What other strategies do you think you could use to help improve your Basic Facts?

I'm sorry to hear you burnt your finger at foods. Ouch! That must have hurt.

well my learning win is achiving level 3.3 in basic facts.

The biggest challenge this week was probably the movie trailer we had to make in the mansfield writting group ,and suprizingly I have not had a F.A.I.L in learning this week. Well the unexpected would have been my embarresment when the movie trailer had been posted on the class blog, I didn't really think that the embarresment would be that hasrsh!!!

    but any ways cheers
