Week 8 @ TIS

This week was very busy. One of the highlights of the week was the Ugly Shakespare performance at our school. In order to prepare for the performance, our class's wacky words this week came from a famous Shakespare play Macbeth. We also watched a cartoon version of Hamlet. What did you think of the performance?

We've also been learning about the lives of children from around the world by looking at pictures from a photo project called Where Children Sleep. We all need somewhere to sleep and we all eventually grow up. What do you think photos said about the lives of children in them? What are some things that were the same in all the photos? What were some things that were different?

My learning win this week was getting all of your blogs set up. Our next learning step is developing quality posts for our blogs.

My First Attempt In Learning was the time-lapse video I took of a day in the life of Room 15. Time-lapse photography is where you film something at a very slow rate and then play it back at normal speed so it looks like everything is moving really fast. I thought it was interesting to capture our day in just 30 seconds but I think the video needs some improvement. What do you think I could I do differently next time?

What were some learning WINs and F.A.I.Ls for you?

  2. Hi Miss Thompson,

I think wat you need to do is to slow it down, I mean its too fast to see the interesting stuff and its highlights.

but I like that you thought about doing this it is really interesting.

  3. Hi Room 15,

I thought the ugly shakespeare show was terrific! All the hilarious and exciting, lines made me keep on watching more.

My fail this week was when my syndicate was doing the fitness curcuit, and I fell on my back while I was running.

My learning win this week, was also when we were doing the fitness curcuit. We broke our school record of 225 while we got 281.

Glad to hear you had a terrific time at Ugly Shakespeare. I like that you were able to identify what made the performance so awesome.

Sorry to hear you fell over doing fitness circuit. Were you embarrassed to fall over?

What did you think of the photos about where children sleep?

  4. Hi Stephanie

I think ugly shakespear was boring, they used some real old and boring jokes.

Some them look really rich and stuck up, and others look really poor and need some help with money. They are all the same but in different ways. They are all different in different ways.
Um.. maybe do it every 30 seconds and see what happens, I think it was a good idea and it is a good way to spy on people because people forgot it was there after awhile.

My learning win was getting into the athletics team, getting to stage 3 on basic facts, finishing my dance in dance academey.
My F.A.I.L.was falling face first in pe.

Thanks for the honesty in your comment. I think that you need to remember our quality commenting to checklist which states that you need to make a positive connection with the post. Even when you are giving your opinion about something, you need to remember that your words have an impact especially when they are on the internet for all to see. What could be a better way to talk about your experience at Ugly Shakespeare?

Thanks for your comment. I like that you had a win in Netball and I'm sorry to hear that you forgot to hand in your homework. What are some strategies you could use to you to help you remember your homework?

Also in the first part of your comment I'm unsure of what you are talking about. Is it the video?

Thanks so much for your comment. When you are posting on a blog it's public so you need to remember anyone could read your words even the actors. That's why we try and make our comments positive and give feedback to help. What did you find boring about Shakespeare? What could they do differently?

  7. hi miss
i thought that the Ugly Shakespeare was really funy and it was amazing that they could pull that of but i was expecting more people then three.

the Where children Sleep is cool and i thought that some of the kids i read about were spoilt rotten and mostly the rest of the kids were poor.

my F.A.I.L this week was straying behind on wackey words but hopefully i will cach up in time.

    1. Hi Sally Ann
You know I was expecting more actors as well and was amazed that could pull of such a great show with so few people.

I think that perhaps instead of thinking about the kids being spoiled its just that they live different lives from you and I. But you are right there is a lot of difference in places that children around the world sleep.

I hope you caught up on your wacky words for the week.

  8. Hi Stephanie,

This week has been awesome. My favourite part was Hamlet by the Ugly Shakespeare Company. They were able to keep the laughs and the story rolling. The actors seemed to bounce the ideas off of our reactions and what they thought was hilarious.
Do you think they managed to get the whole hall splitting their sides?
My fail for this week was walking into a wall. This is a warning for everyone and anyone: look before you stand up and turn around really fast.
    Does anyone have an icepack?

We have icepacks available if needed for next time.

I try and get our class to go to the library at least once a week as the books live there and I love books.

Thanks for your feedback. Do you think I should try and make another one?

I can't believe its week 8 already either. I love cooking and enjoyed sampling some of the sushi from spec. A good rule with salt is always to have a little taste before adding more in because you can't take salt away but you can always add more. Did you enjoy making sushi? Were there some tricky parts?

I think Stephanie you need to slow down the i time lapse to make it make sense.
I thought ugly shake spere was funny but boring at the same time and some people are spoiled and some people are living an unforgettably life of misery.

Thanks for your direct feedback on my video. I think you were very respectful in giving criticism.

Could you tell more about what you found funny about ugly Shakespeare and what you found boring. Remember that you are writing in public forum so you need to be mindful of others when giving feedback.

I'm not sure who you are talking about with being spoiled. Was it the 'where children sleep?' Do you think the children are happy. Do you think the children who have a lot of possessions are happy? What makes you think the children without possessions are living a life of misery?
