Quality Commenting

Hi Room 15
It's been great to see students making comments on our blog. Commenting really brings a blog to life its away to keep a conversation about a post going. Our next learning step is to think about making a quality comment.

What do you think makes a quality comment on a blog?

What do you think a commentator should think about before hitting publish?

I agree that keeping comments succinct and to the point is important. Asking questions is also important. What effect do you think asking questions has on the conversation?

You should respond to what other people have commented and make sure it responds to the post.

Another the thing you could do in your comments is add value to the conversation like sharing your points of view and thoughts. Th$is gives others the oppurtunnity to expand and give more info for you to learn.

You should also use good grammar and puncuation so they can read it. If you use txt speak they won't know what nm and other txt words mean.

  5. HI Miss!
A quality comment is written like a letter and speaks about the subject the blog. They are not made of short sentences but made of many different lengths of sentences that are detailed,(A lot like this one;) ). :).By the way this is the only blog we've seen that has total awesomeness!

    1. Hello Sallyann n Sammiiee
You are right that a quality comment is like a mini letter and should have different sentence lengths. I also like that you included a compliment in your comment. How do you you think we can keep a conversation going in the compliments?

Correct punctuation is so important it makes comments so much easier to read when they use the correct punctuation and also have correct spelling and comments are capitalized. Having a go at making comments is also important. How can you practice making comments?

Good to hear from you. I'm sure that everyone had a great time at Ngatitoa. I think we will have to write a post about it.

  8. I think its really important that a comment is positive, because it depends on the year level of the student about the quality of the work. We've also been discussing this in our class over the last few days and we've decided its very important that your comment includes a way to find the person to reply (as we've had some comments with no name) to find out who left it.

  9. Hi Melville and Room 5.
I think positive comments are important as is accurately identifying where comments from. Using a blog url when commenting can help us find where you are visiting us from.
